Bird allows competitors on its app

The E scooter and Micro mobility operator has taken an adult approach to their app. While cleverly taken a cue from the open banking trend. Their app now shows rentable city bikes from public operators The company has launched public bikeshare integration for its app.

This move according to Bird is part of its Smart Bikeshare Program announced in June. Bird also said that this allows the company to "strategically meet the multimodal mobility needs of cities without monopolizing transportation options or competing with local businesses."

Riders searching for e scooters and bikes in the Bird app will also be able to see nearby public stations with available bikes.

At the moment, the integration is only live for iOS and mostly in the US. It should be coming to the UK soon.

Mre cities will probably be added in the future.

While Bird is famous known for its rental scooters, it also has products people who want their own bike can buy.
